The past 60–90 days have sent a clear signal to the SAP partner community: SAP wants its ecosystem to lead the next phase of transformation, not just execute it. The biggest themes are cloud-first services, AI-ready data foundations, stronger partner accountability, and a sharper focus on measurable customer outcomes.

What changed

SAP’s planned acquisition of Reltio is one of the clearest indicators that master data and AI-ready governance are becoming strategic priorities inside Business Data Cloud. For partners and consultants, that means more demand for data architecture, governance, integration, and migration services that can connect SAP and non-SAP landscapes cleanly.

SAP also refreshed its support and services portfolio for cloud customers, which matters because it changes how customers engage with implementation and ongoing success motions. The message to partners is simple: SAP is pushing a more continuous, cloud-oriented delivery model, and partners that can prove support collaboration and operational excellence will be better positioned.

Why partners should care

The new partner-award cycle reinforces a shift from volume-based partner value to outcomes-based partner value. SAP’s 2026 regional and global partner awards highlight cloud transformation, AI adoption, innovation, and customer impact as the criteria that matter most.

That’s a strong clue for consulting firms and systems integrators: SAP is rewarding partners that can move customers from pilots to production, especially in AI, cloud ERP, and data-driven transformation. In other words, “implementation” alone is no longer enough; SAP increasingly expects partners to help customers operationalize the change.

The data stack is now central

Business Data Cloud is becoming the strategic anchor of SAP’s ecosystem narrative. The Reltio deal, combined with SAP’s broader data ecosystem direction, suggests that partners will see more opportunities in master data management, semantic modeling, cross-platform data sharing, and AI enablement than in traditional point integrations.

For consultants, this shifts the conversation from “how do we move this workload to SAP?” to “how do we make enterprise data trustworthy, reusable, and AI-ready across the whole landscape?” That is a better fit for advisory, architecture, and long-term transformation work than for one-time technical delivery alone.

Customer experience is becoming more enterprise-wide

SAP’s rebrand of Emarsys to SAP Engagement Cloud is another sign that SAP wants to unify customer engagement more tightly with the rest of the business suite. The product direction points toward broader orchestration, enterprise governance, and AI-assisted engagement workflows rather than a standalone marketing platform.

For partners, this opens room for CX process redesign, integration with finance and supply chain, and governance-heavy implementation work. It also suggests that customer experience projects will increasingly be judged on how well they connect to core operational data, not just on campaign execution.

Skills are a market differentiator

SAP’s expanded learning ecosystem and its pledge to equip 12 million people with AI-ready skills by 2030 should be read as a warning and an opportunity.

The warning is that SAP expects a faster skills transition for partners across the ecosystem; the opportunity is that firms that invest early in AI, cloud, and BDC expertise can stand out in a crowded market.

This is especially important for consulting teams trying to recruit and retain SAP talent. As clean core, AI, and cloud services become the baseline, partners will need deeper capability in architecture, change management, data, and managed services to stay competitive.
